Preparing for a Consultant Pharmacist Career Certificate Program

Preparing for a Consultant Pharmacist Career is an innovative, intensive, and practice-based continuing pharmacy education activity developed by the New Jersey Pharmacists Association [NJPhA] and the NJPhA Academy of Consultant Pharmacists. The purpose of this practice-based training is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge and skills, and enhance practice enhance practice through both a didactic and practice experiential component. The didactic and practice components provide information related to the Consultant Pharmacist Handbook: A Guide for Consulting to Nursing facilities, 5th Edition, and practical case discussions. The home study contains guided questions and chapter post-tests for which the Consultant Handbook is required. Additional laws and regulations may vary by state, and such content may not be reviewed in this course.

Note: The certification test on October 9, 2026 is administered by the Joint Board for Certification of Consultant Pharmacists and information is available on their website.
It requires a separate registration and payment. Go to the Joint Board website to register for the exam.
*8hr self study must be completed prior to attending the 8hr live-in-person program on September 16, 2026 (8-5pm) at the Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center. Participants are required to secure the 5th edition of the Consultant Handbook.
